This is an oil painting created for the Crimson Vow set of Magic the Gathering CCG.

I was so excited when my art director, Andrew Vallas, sent me this commission. I love painting vampires and creatures of the night in general. The assignment was pretty straightforward: Create Strefan Maurer, the vampire who founded the Maurer bloodline. He’s well groomed and has Victorian mutton chops. Strefan should look like a nobleman making a grand entrance. He should wear a Victorian tuxedo and hold a dapper cane.
